When you think of Las Vegas, one of the first things that probably comes to mind is the casinos and gambling that Vegas is famous for.

For many people who book a holiday to Las Vegas, a trip to sin city wouldn’t be complete without trying their luck in the casinos.

Deciding which casino to visit can be difficult however due to the sheer number of vast glittering gambling establishments that are more than happy to allow visitors to gamble with their money. .

Below, we look at 10 of the best casinos scattered around Las Vegas:

The Bellagio

A holiday destination in its own right, the Bellagio is the ultimate in grand-scale indulgence. A playground for millionaires, the Bellagio offers luxury hotel accommodation, together with a botanical garden, art museum and one of the plushest gaming floors to be found anywhere in Vegas. Well worth a visit just to take in the spectacle, the Bellagio is located at 3600 Las Vegas Boulevard, at the heart of the strip.

Binion’s Horseshoe Casino

One of the first casinos to open on Las Vegas’ legendary strip, Binion’s Horseshoe was opened by legendary player Benny Binion and in 1963, his son, Jack Binion, became president. One of the most successful casino operations in Nevada, the Horseshoe shot to fame internationally when it hosted the 1970 Poker World Series. Jack Binion also founded the World Poker Open, a major tournament for those serious about the game. Poker players from across the world flock to play here, but there is plenty of opportunity to play roulette, blackjack, slots and other traditional casino games too. Binion’s is located at 128 East Fremont Street.

Caesar’s Palace

Arguably the most famous casino in Las Vegas, Caesar’s Palace opened in the 1960s and is a luxury hotel, casino and entertainment venue combined. Big names that have played here include Diana Ross, Celine Dion and Elton John and the venue itself is every bit as big as the names it attracts.

The hotel has 3,349 rooms spread over five towers and there is 166,000 square feet of gaming space. There are also numerous restaurants, serving everything from steak to sushi and there are several shops. Located at 3570 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Caesar’s Palace is the archetypal big, bold and brash Las Vegas casino.

Casino Royale

Casino Royale’s eye-catching architecture alone makes it worth a visit but the reason for serious gamblers to head here is for its craps games. Craps at the Casino Royale has become an institution in the gambling world and a location slap bang in the middle of the strip at 3411 South Las Vegas Boulevard makes it easy to find. It’s also a hotel, so after a few drinks and a few games, you can head straight for your room without having to brave the mass of people out on the strip.

MGM Grand

This is the largest of all the casino-hotels in Las Vegas and its iconic entrance, with two statues of the roaring MGM Movies lions, has become an internationally recognised symbol of gambling in Las Vegas. There are more than 165 game tables and close to 4,000 slots, while the art deco hotel restaurant serves top notch cuisine from celebrated chefs.

Meanwhile, the venue’s Grand Garden arena hosts regular music concerts and big name boxing matches. MGM Grand is quite literally impossible to miss, located on South Las Vegas Boulevard.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino

Created in the style of a South Seas beach resort, this lavish casino-hotel resort even boasts its own man-made beach and the aquatic theme goes as far as to include an actual shark reef within the grounds.

The gaming tables cater for those who can afford to lose money and many a celebrity gamer has been spotted here. For those on a more modest budget, there are plenty of five and 25 cent slots too. This is another centrally located casino on Las Vegas Boulevard.

It’s the gaming that attracts the majority of people however as there’s a poker room here along with plenty of opportunity to try traditional casino games such as blackjack and roulette. Wannabe poker players can even take lessons in the game at The Luxor Hotel & Casino.

Circus Circus Casino

Las Vegas itself can be compared to a colourful circus and this Las Vegas resort is perhaps the best place in Las Vegas for families. Circus Circus is far more than a casino, with an amusement park, entertainment venue and hotel resort all housed within its vast grounds. Centrally located on Las Vegas Boulevard, guests here can gamble, eat, drink and enjoy a range of non-gaming entertainment without ever having to leave the grounds.

Treasure Island Casino

Will you strike it rich at Treasure Island? There’s certainly no lack of opportunity to try your luck, with a good range of games and generous repayments. The pirate-themed casino’s location in the middle of the strip makes it a popular choice among passersby and returning gamers alike and there are several restaurant choices here to fuel your appetite for the next game. High stakes gamblers can play in a small dedicated space, but this place really appeals to those playing for fun rather than for megabucks.
