Discovering Orlando

Orlando
Orlando, one of the largest city’s in the Sunshine State and is centrally located in beautiful Florida. As a natural reaction, most people automatically equate Orlando with being a child’s, and the young at heart’s, paradise and with just cause; Mickey Mouse does get his mail here and while this Orlando is home to some of the world’s best known theme parks like Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and Hogwarts Castle, there is another Orlando that some may not be as familiar with. As mentioned, Florida’s moniker is the Sunshine State and with temperatures averaging in the 70s year round there is much to do in the way of outside activities.
If you are a lover of beautiful vegetation and glorious flora, there are several botanical gardens that provide relaxation and serenity all while providing a visual feast of exotic colors, lushness, and intoxicating smells. The University of Central Florida’s Arboretum, the Henry P. Leu Gardens, and the World of Orchids are all lovely places to take a day trip and walk through, admiring the magnificent gardens. The World of Orchids is an enclosed tropical rainforest replica with waterfalls, nature walks, streams filled with Koi fish, and exotic birds.
However during the summer the humidity coupled with rising temperatures is enough for visitors (and residents) to seek an indoor respite. Orlando has a lot in the way of culture; it is home to inspiring art collections, museums, and theaters. The Orlando Museum of Art incorporates exhibitions of local, regional, national, and international significance in a way that will educate as well as stimulate visitors. The Cornell Fine Arts Museum , located on the campus of Rollins College, is home to stellar collections in excess of more than 5000 objects from antiquity to the contemporary. Another cultural gem is the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Art, where there is a large assemblage of pieces from famed designer/glassmaker Louis Comfort Tiffany.
Other attractions include guided safari adventures like Gatorland, the alligator capital of the world, and is home to many species of reptiles and water loving amphibians. EcoSafaris at Forever Florida is a 4700 acre eco-ranch and wildlife conservatory. You do not have to worry about tiring yourself out walking this expansive terrain because their are three ways to explore Forever Florida: Coach Safari, Horseback Safari, or the wildly fun Zipline Safari where you get an aerial view of this park from high up in the trees. Lastly, there is Holyland owned by Trinity Broadcasting Network and this is a theme park that recreates many of the events in the bible in a fun, educational way.
Now that the alternatives to theme parks have been mentioned, we can delve deeper into what Orlando is synonymous with and the primary drive of their tourism dollars; theme parks. Again, the major theme parks include, Walt Disney World (which is arguably regarded as the most famous, enthralling theme park in the world), Universal Orlando Resort, and Sea World Adventure Park Orlando. With the global success of the Harry Potter franchise, Disney added to its ensemble of attractions, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (a part of Universal), which is a magical, thrilling adaption of the wildly popular book series.
Unless you will be spending most of your visit at one of the major theme parks, transportation can be an issue. Orlando is rather spaced out and so the easiest way to get around would be a rental car. It may be cost-effective to rent your car as a part of a vacation package and car rental Orlando also is a booking site that offers competitive prices in the way of car rentals and with a zero dollar online booking fee.
